About the Fiji NZ Business Council

The Fiji New Zealand Business Council (FNZBC) was established with the purpose of promoting friendship, goodwill and understanding between the business communities of Fiji and New Zealand.

The FNZBC is a membership-based organisation with Members throughout Fiji and New Zealand. Members come from varied sectors and includes individual consultants, SME’s, and some well-known large organisations based in Fiji. The Council has in New Zealand its sister organisation the New Zealand Fiji Business Council (NZFBC). The FNZBC cooperates with the NZFBC, or any other appropriate body established in New Zealand and arranges for regular and effective consultation, communication and meetings with them. Both organisations collaborate on several events including joint annual conferences and business missions. These events are very popular as it is attended by many business and government leaders from Fiji and New Zealand. Headlines are always generated from this event as it is closely watched and reported on by the media. Collectively the Councils boast a membership of circa 100.

What we do

The Council supports and encourages trade, investment, technical and economic co-operation and tourism between Fiji and New Zealand. The FNZBC also maintains, promotes and extends industrial and commercial relations between individuals, firms, companies, corporations, institutions and associations of Fiji and New Zealand. It also engages in carrying out objective research studies on any matters affecting or concerning any of the above objects.

Irrespective of who was in government in either country, the Council is apolitical and has withstood the effects of changing times, events and political landscape. The FNZBC maintains liaison with the Governments of both Fiji and New Zealand in order to promote any of the above objects and to ensure that the concerns, views and plans of the Fijian and New Zealand commercial sector are clearly conveyed to the governments of both countries.

During the year the FNZBC holds a number of social functions which enable members to catch up and connect. The Council also provides a forum for contacts and discussions of questions of common interest and information, advice and services. Moreover, it encourages and sponsors education, personnel exchanges and training schemes at the private sector level between Fiji and New Zealand, with the aim of mutually enhancing experience, education and capabilities.

The FNZBC seeks to ensure the continuation of a stable relationship between the two countries – a relationship which understands the national heritage and aspirations of both countries and a relationship which will draw together regional neighbours and trading partners in a growing bond of friendship.

If you are a Fiji business doing work in Fiji, working with New Zealand businesses or investing in New Zealand, then you should be a member of the FNZBC.
